My Review of Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel

This post is going to talk about the awesome special that aired on Disney Channel last Friday night called Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel.  For the ones who have not seen this special yet, consider this post below the picture as a SPOILER ALERT!

HULK, SPIDER-MAN, THE BEAK, THOR, IRON MAN

Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel was a very impressive special in my opinion!  It almost looked liked the Marvel and Phineas and Ferb worlds fit together perfectly!  Right at the beginning during the title sequence, you saw Spider Man in place of Candace saying “Aunt May, Phineas and Ferb are making a crossover,” it was funny!  Yep, Phineas acknowledged that they are making a crossover this time, while jamming out on the guitar!  The episode begins as Phineas and Ferb and their friends are surfing the asteroid belt with rocket powered surfboards.  Yep, they all fly back to a space station that is shaped like the heads of Phineas and Ferb.  Meanwhile back in Danville, Dr. Doof has trapped Agent P but Dr. Doof screws up and Perry defeats his inator.  But not before shooting a beam that bounced off of the space station and drained the powers of Spider Man, Iron Man, The Hulk and Thor in New York City.  Watching the superheroes trying to be superheroes was funny, yep, Iron Man had to be towed around with a dolly.

While Dr. Doof was gloating his victory of draining the superheroes powers, the superheroes arrives at the house of Phineas and Ferb.  And the villains Red Skull, Whiplash, Venom and M.O.D.O.K. arrives at Doofenshmirtz Evil Inc.  Yes, apple juice in a box is yummy!  And Isabella had to take Candace to lie down after freaking out!  In Perry’s lair, Nick Fury took over the main TV screen while Major Monogram was on an outdated TV.  Nick Fury wondered why Agent P was a platypus while Major Monogram was wanting to be cool!  In this special, you see Stan Lee as a hot dog cart operator.  Every Marvel show has to have the Stan Lee cameo!

Phineas and Ferb takes the superheroes to a small shed which is a major building in the inside.  Candace is loving every moment of the superheroes, too bad the superheroes can’t take fan fiction!   And Candace begins to screw up Phineas inventions which switches the superheroes powers, this makes him angry!  Meanwhile, Dr. Doof and the villains go around Danville and does evil things, it was accompanied by a groovy song!  Then a breaking news report comes on and Horse in a Bookcase was cancelled, too bad!  Phineas and Ferb uses The Beak to fly the superheroes to the mall where chaos is ongoing.  But the villains win, until Agent P flies in to save the day, while wearing a superhero unitard to not disclose his identity to Phineas and Ferb.

Back at the shed, Baljeet was working on fixing the machine, until Candace messes things up again and the machine fired on Baljeet turning him into a mini Hulk!  I did not see that coming, but Baljeet was great being Hulkified!  Dr. Doof and Agent P gets trapped by the villains, and Candace and Isabella are frustrated that they can’t help out more like the guys do.  Yep, somehow none of the female superheroes showed up which frustrated the girls, that was an interesting song by the way!  They said only trying to help quite a bit!

The villains are at Danville City Hall to unleash a device that will drain everything that it targets, unless the superheroes show up.  The first target, Stan Lee’s hot dog cart!  No Stan Lee, Danville is not safer than New York City, you have not seen the entire Phineas and Ferb series, have you?  Yep, the superheroes takes a city bus to show up and fight.  The lady saying “out of my way you weirdos, it’s worse than Portland” was funny. Candace tries to make up and apologize to Phineas, but it does not work.  Isabella and Candace tries to put some sense into Phineas and Ferb which are flying in The Beak suit to the battle, but it is to no avail.  At the battle, the superheroes, The Beak suit, Agent P, Hulkjeet, and Dr. Doof shooting waffles was trying to defeat the villains!

Candace and Isabella flies up to the space station and yes, Candace messes things up again and sends the space station back to Earth.  One question, why would a falling space station unfriend people on social media?  The space station crashes on top of the villains and the superheroes get their powers back, this means bad news for the villains as they are defeated.  The kids sit on the sideline eating some popcorn while the superheroes do their jobs!  Plus Phineas and Candace apologize to each other.  Nick Fury thanks the kids and tells them they have true courage, plus Stan Lee bombs the scene giving hot dogs to everyone!  Sorry Candace, you don’t get to bust your brothers again.  During the episode, Linda Flynn-Fletcher was distracted by a walking tour while the mall battle happened, Hulkjett was causing mayhem, and the ultimate battle between the super heroes and villains was underway.

The special had plenty of scenes that broke the fourth wall which I found amusing!  Let’s not forget, this special made references to two popular cult followings.  The first, Phineas and Ferb took the superheroes into a small shed that turned out to be a huge building.  Yep, Ferb referenced Doctor Who and the TARDIS by saying the building has some “British Sci-Fi Technology.”  The second reference was when the superheroes were talking about Perry the Platypus as a superhero.  Referencing Perry as Howard the Duck was gold!  If you have no idea what Howard the Duck is, watch the video below!

One part that really surprised me was the interaction between Candace and Phineas.  In most episodes, Candace jumps at the opportunity to be a part of Phineas and Ferb’s projects if given the chance.  In the special, Candace was messing things up and this made Phineas very angry!  We have not seen Phineas angry in most of the series.  Isabella was also felt like an outcast during the special, the boys and superheroes were bonding together and helping each other to save the world.  Meanwhile, Candace and Isabella were shunned off to the side and were on their own.  Their song taking about their problems and wanting to help was perfect!  But thankfully at the end, the two girls crashed the space station on top of the villains and saved the day!  I was happy to see that!

So at the end, I thought the special was wonderful and perfect for any geek or nerd, or just about everybody!  Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel was a great crossover and was written well, and had some great animation qualities!  The comedy and music in the special was also perfect!  Next Summer, we will get to see the Phineas and Ferb Star Wars crossover special which will be a hoot!  And for the Phineas and Ferb movie, well sadly that has been delayed indefinitely.  I am wondering if we will get to see a Phineas and Ferb movie at all.
