The Woodstock 5K was a huge success as over 1,000 people ran the event in its 33rd year, and the humidity was down this year! The event is organized by the Anniston Runners Club and all proceeds went to the United Cerebral Palsy and the Special Olympics. Along with the Woodstock 5K and the Kidstock 1 Mile race, there was plenty of vendors selling merchandise and food. Waffle House was cooking up fresh hash-browns for everyone and Mellow Mushroom was giving out free pizza. Also this year, several bands performed some great music like Jim Parks, The Gypsy Begonias, McPherson Struts, Abby Parks and Doublewide Soul.
Course records were also broken again this year with the official results having male winner Patrick Choptoek at 14:05 and the top female was Lydia Kosgei at 17:06. Here is a video of the start of the Woodstock 5K which includes the awards ceremony and a performance from The Gypsy Begonias!
