Good News Fridays: Seacrest Studios

Geek Alabama Good News Fridays

Ryan Seacrest is one busy guy, he’s on the network E!, he hosts his own radio show, and he is the host of American Idol.  But the guy has a great heart as well, as part of his foundation called the Ryan Seacrest Foundation, he has partnered with several children’s hospitals to open something called Seacrest Studios.  The studios have everything you need including microphones, production-quality video cameras, and a green screen for use in video projects.  And it’s for the kids!

Seacrest Studios have locations in hospitals in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Dallas, Philadelphia, and Charlotte.  With even more locations planned.  The studios uses volunteer deejays who involve patients in recreational activities linked to radio programs that are child-focused.  Volunteer deejays play Top 40 hits and children’s favorites, take call-in requests, and put patients “on air” from the bedside or in the studio.  The studios also partner with local journalism schools to allow interns to gain firsthand experience in broadcasting, programming, and operating a multimedia center.

Anyway to get more kids and people excited with multimedia is great!  People who writes blogs, makes videos, takes pictures, and does anything else in the media world is awesome!  Ryan Seacrest is doing something to get kids more involved in things media, and you never know, once the kids get better, they might decide to make a career path in the media world.  Even better!  More Seacrest Studios are planned in children hospitals around the country, hopefully Children’s of Alabama will be a great candidate to get one!
