I saw this today and I thought it would be great to share! There is a company that operates a special amusement park for kids. Instead of rides, this place provides role-playing activities. Here’s the video for KidZania!
KidZania provides children and their parents a safe, unique, and very realistic educational environment that allows kids between the ages of four to twelve to do what comes naturally to them: role-playing by mimicking traditionally adult activities. As in the real world, children perform “jobs” and are either paid for their work (as a fireman, doctor, police officer, journalist, shopkeeper, etc.) or pay to shop or to be entertained. The indoor theme park is a city built to scale for children, complete with buildings, paved streets, vehicles, a functioning economy, and recognizable destinations in the form of “establishments” sponsored and branded by leading multi-national and local brands.

KidZania offers nearly 100 role-playing activities in more than 60 establishments with a range of difficulty to meet the abilities and interests of every child. Kids work to earn kidZos, KidZania’s own currency, so they can pay for goods and services in the KidZania city. These jobs range from being a chef, surgeon, firefighter, production worker, police officer, and much more! KidZania is also a complete city with a hospital, fire station, beauty salon, bank, radio station, supermarket, television station, pizzeria, theater, and much more. The city is built at 2/3 thirds of the average kids size.
After the kids do a job like in the real world, the kids earn kidZos, the official currency of KidZania. kidZos are used to buy products and services in KidZania. The more children work, the more they earn, and the more they can experience. On their first visit to a KidZania, children open their own personal savings account at the KidZania bank. Kids receive kidZos in cash and a working debit card to be used at any of the city’s ATMs.
You have to be thinking, how safe is this for the kids? At KidZania, there are Zupervisors who are trained adults who guide and help kids accomplish their tasks as they work and play. All of the job activities are safe for kids, you are not going to hand over a real knife to a kid surgeon, are you? The Zupervisors introduce and provide support for each activity at KidZania. So the place is super safe! Several worldwide companies provide support at KidZania. And educators and parents helped to develop the KidZania model, so it’s done right!

There are numerous KidZania locations around the world, but none in the United States, yet. Plans call for the first KidZania center to open in the United States in 2015 with over 12 planned in the U.S. I find KidZania as something all kids will enjoy, some people have called KidZania as brainwashing kids to be future work drones.
