Huntsville has a chance to host a major conference all about social media!  Voting is now open for the second round of the Social Media Tourism Symposium’s competition.  Huntsville is competing against Indianapolis to move to the final four.  This is for the chance to host a symposium that officials say could bring hundreds of thousands of dollars to town.  So far, Branson, Missouri; Cleveland, Ohio; and Missoula, Montana have advanced to the Final Four round.

Dr. Deborah Barnhart, CEO of the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, explained why Huntsville is the perfect fit for a conference so focused on the communication tools of the future.  “As a city on the leading edge of technology, Huntsville is well positioned to take social media to the next level as both a promotional tool and a platform to encourage innovation and ingenuity in our communities,” said Barnhart.  Officials estimate this convention could bring in around $180,000 in direct spending to Madison County!

To vote, go to the Social Media Tourism Symposium Facebook page at: http://woobox.com/q83ukn Voting closes at 9 pm central Thursday.
