Geek Alabama’s Top Summer Songs

Well Summer is rapidly winding down and the kids are back in school.  During each summer we get to hear some awesome songs on the radio and watch the videos on YouTube.  I wanted to list my top 11 summer songs we heard this summer!

Carly Rae Jepsen – Call Me Maybe

This song has been called the anthem of summer 2012.  Plus we have all seen the numerous parody videos on YouTube using this song!

Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen – Good Time

I was glad to see one of favorite bands Owl City team up with Carly Rae Jepsen for this great song this summer!

Justin Bieber – Boyfriend

Justin just keeps cranking out the hits which makes all of the girls scream until they are out of breath!

Maroon 5 – Payphone

I wasn’t a big fan of Maroon 5 but this song in my opinion puts them in the spotlight.  This song is about something we don’t use much anymore.

Nicki Minaj – Starships

This song is another hit from Nicki Minaj and it has a really catchy sound to it that just wants you to dance!

David Guetta – Titanium

This song has been popular for most of 2012 now.  And the music is something you would find in a dance club!

GotyeSomebody That I Used to Know

This song was released in summer 2011 but it caught fire in summer 2012.  I still really like this song and the other songs by Gotye are great as well!

Katy Perry – Wide Awake

This song has been in a series of hit songs from Katy Perry.  I love the music video as it shows a lot of fairy tales.

Ellie Goulding – Lights

This song was also put up in 2011 but it too caught fire in 2012.  This song has a very catchy tune and is one of my favorites.

Thomas Rhett – Something To Do With My Hands

One of the top country songs in summer 2012.  I love how Thomas Rhett describes all of the things he can do with his hands!

Alex Clare – Too Close

This song was also released in summer 2011 but it caught fire in summer 2012.  The music in this song has that geeky feel to it!
