Todd Akin Opened His Mouth

I really wished I did not have to write this post and then make some people out there not happy. But the online world has been ablaze since Rep. Todd Akin said some things about abortion that are beyond me. It is wrong for someone to be raped; but when Todd Akin said this while on The Jaco Report from KTVI FOX 2 in St. Louis; it drove many people crazy.

QUESTION: “So, if an abortion could be considered in the case of, say, a tubal pregnancy or something like that, what about in the case of rape? Should it be legal or not?”

ANSWER: “It seems to me first of all from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something, you know, I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist and not attacking the child.”

Is he on drugs or something? The female body can not magically shut down a pregnancy because that person was raped. Todd Akin must believe we are in la la land where rich people pay hardly any taxes and they get everything for free. Where minimum wage is no longer a law and businesses can pay you a dollar a day. And where there are no laws to protect the environment and businesses can pollute whenever they want. I think the clip from The Simpsons should tell you what pollution does.

All women have the same reproductive parts and God does not choose which women will have a possible pregnancy shut down because their bodies can do that. Being raped is horrible! It effects the person for the rest of their lives. When the person has a down moment they are going to flashback to the rape. The person that does the rape should be put away in prison for the rest of their lives and they should register as a sex offender in my opinion.

Naturally many politicians including Mitt Romney are calling for Todd Akin to quit the race because of his comments. And I do think he does need to step down because if he does not step down; Akin’s opponent, Sen. Claire McCaskill will win in a landslide. Todd Akin has stayed out of the media spotlight and on Piers Morgan Tonight on CNN it was an hour of Piers Morgan talking to an empty chair. He was not happy that Todd Akin did not show. Piers said “If you don’t keep your promise to appear on the show, then you are what we would call in Britain a gutless little twerp.” That quote made national news!

But this story could have huge implications in the U.S. Senate. Races from around the country could determine which party holds the U.S. Senate after November. And would it be sad if the Democrats hold the U.S. Senate by one seat because of Todd Akin. That scenario could happen unless Todd Akin steps down; which he needs to do. A parody Twitter account @AkinEmptyChair does a very good job throwing jabs at Todd Akin and other politicians. And Todd Akin’s campaign put out an ad today apologizing to the public about his remarks. But it’s too little too late Todd Akin, step down now!
