Some Alabama Controversies

Alabama Public Television Controversy

Alabama Public Television

I wanted to start off this post by talking about the recent controversy over at Alabama Public Television.  A major shakeup has occurred involving veteran broadcaster Allan Pizzato and his deputy Pauline Howland.  They were told to leave the premises and clean out their desks.  The two people fired were both surprised that they were fired.  They both think the firings were due to their concerns of airing a right-wing 10 part mini series.  Rodney Herring; a chiropractor appointed by former Republican Gov. Bob Riley in December 2010 reportedly suggested to the APT staff that they air The American Heritage Series, a 10-part program by Texas-based evangelical David Barton’s group WallBuilders LLC.

WallBuilders’ goal is to exert a direct and positive influence in government, education, and the family by (1) educating the nation concerning the Godly foundation of our country; (2) providing information to federal, state, and local officials as they develop public policies which reflect Biblical values; and (3) encouraging Christians to be involved in the civic arena.  Keep in mind the leader of WallBuilders David Barton also has said that people are on welfare because they are not reading the Bible.

And David Barton has also said that America needs to regulate homosexuality.

My only reason why I am thinking Alabama Public Television is even considering to air this series is because they are desperate.  They think that most people in Alabama have a belief that APT and PBS are too liberal or leaning to the left.  And if they air this series they might get more people to consider donating to APT.  While at the same time risking their public broadcasting license.

I am hoping this is something Alabama Public Television will never air.  All this is going to do is make people even more angry.  America is way too divided right now and airing this series will only add fuel to the fire.

Ben Little Speaks Again

Ben Little; a city councilmen from the City of Anniston is back in the spotlight again.  He held a news conference at his church Refuge Full Gospel Methodist.  He said that the property code violation charges have been dropped after the properties that are owned by the church was cleaned up.  But Ben Little still has threatened to sue people in the city for up to $2 million.  Remember this gem from last year.

The people in Anniston needs to realize how bad an influence Ben Little is to the city.  I hope the people living in his ward have the guts to vote him out in August.  It’s time to put the fighting aside and start working together to bring back Anniston!  Anniston needs new leadership now!
