Foster Girl’s Death and Relay For Life

Ragland Tragic Death

I feel like I needed to update the story of a 8 or 9 year-old girl who was found hanging from a tree Thursday night.  The story has the entire town of Ragland in a buzz.  And you have to admit this is one very sad story.  The St. Clair County Sheriff just wrapped up a news conference updating everyone about this story.  Here are some of the details.

The St. Clair County Sheriff received a call Thursday night of a girl hung from a tree.  The girl was found by the foster-mother and was taken to the hospital where she was declared dead.  Not much more was known about the case until today.  At the press conference; St. Clair County Sheriff Terry Surles says Katelynn Arnold was a foster child.  The little girl was riding her bicycle when her half brother called her over to a tree. Then her foster-mother found her body.  Katelynn’s 14-year-old half-brother was questioned overnight and taken into custody this morning.  He’s being held at a juvenile detention center.  A future hearing will determine whether he’s tried as an adult or juvenile.

So everyone please pray for the family that is now having to go through this tragic situation.  This is something Ragland did not need to go through.  Especially the national media attention it’s now getting.

Relay For Life Calhoun County

This is going on Friday night and Saturday.  Relay For Life Calhoun County is happening at the McClellan Soccer Fields in Anniston and so far over $100,000 has been raised for the organization.    Many people here in the area have been helping to raise money for the cause.  This lady has been making over 700 apple pies for people.
