Roanoke, AL Christmas Parade 2011

It is time for yet another Christmas parade.  All the parades are now complete and there is only one more parade post coming.  This Christmas parade was different this year.  Because the local high school; Handley High School.  Won the 3A Alabama HS football state championship.  So this parade was part Christmas and championship celebration.  So enjoy the photos below!

TV 24 Pigskin Roundup All Star Banquet 2011

UPDATE:  I would like to show off a Facebook Album with even more photos from the banquet.

If the link does not work join the group Jon Holder’s Pigskin Roundup on Facebook.  The photo album is there as well.

We had a huge event here in East Alabama last night.  The annual TV 24 Pigskin Roundup All Star Banquet was held at Word Alive Church in Oxford.  The banquet showcases the best high school football players in the region.  But there was much more.  We had the coach of the year; the stadium voice of the year; the coach of the year; the play of the year; the cheerleader squad of the year and the guest speaker Alabama head coach Nick Saban.  Before we get to the Nick Saban part for all you Alabama fans out there let’s honor the kids who put in the hard work this year.

We had all the players come out of a tunnel with a fog machine.  And the Oxford cheerleaders along the aisle heading toward the stage.

And before the show started we had a whole line set up for meals from KFC.

There were many people and pictures featuring things from Alabama Crimson Tide football there.

I guess Santa Claus must be an Alabama Crimson Tide Fan?  Now here are some behind the scenes before we get to the Nick Saban Speech.

And now for Nick Saban.  As everyone now knows Alabama and LSU will meet in New Orleans for the BCS championship game.  This is Nick Saban’s first visit ever to Calhoun County and the welcome applause was huge!  Nick Saban did a great speech.  He talked about how he likes how the players put in a lot of hard work.  He talked about how to succeed in life you need good character, good attitude, and good work ethic.  But the part the most people remembered is sometime in your life someone will say you are not needed on the team anymore.  What are you going to do to improve yourself so when that time comes you will not be in trouble.  He even compared what he was talking about from Martin Luther King and Saving Private Ryan.  Everyone in the room enjoyed the speech!

The entire event went great and if you live in East Alabama the show will be shown on TV 24 several times over the holidays.  But if you want to order a DVD copy of the show.  Call 256-831-4624.

12 Days To Christmas 2011

12 Days Left To Christmas

At The North Pole:

Well I have enjoyed talking about what you would see at the North Pole.  So we will now talk about what you would see at Santa’s Workshop.  Today it will be the elf that orders the materials needed to make the toys.  Without the raw materials you can not make toys.  And that would make kids and Santa very sad!

Christmas Song:

The song Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas by Frank Sinatra does have a true meaning.  When Christmas gets here just relax and enjoy the time with your friends and family.  I know things are tough out there but I know this!  Things will get better!
