The Evening Post: The Election Is Over!

I am glad this election is over!  Barack Obama won another term in office.  And it was a bad night for the Tea Party Republicans.  Many people in the minority races voted for Obama.  And until that changes the Republicans will never win.  Here is the Romney concession speech.

And here is the Obama victory speech.

Some people did not take Obama winning easily.  Donald Trump went crazy on Twitter saying things like “This election is a total sham and a travesty. We are not a democracy!” or “Lets fight like hell and stop this great and disgusting injustice! The world is laughing at us.”  http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1112/83450.html#ixzz2BbMUG7gl.

Rush Limbaugh said on his radio show today that  “Small things beat big things yesterday,” he said. “Conservatism … did not lose last night … it is practically impossible to beat Santa Claus. People are not going to vote against Santa Claus, especially if the alternative is being your own Santa Claus.”  He also said conservatism “did not lose last night.” http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/2012/11/rush-limbaugh-conservatism-did-not-lose-148902.html.

I watched some coverage from ABC News and I thought Diane Sawyer was drunk.  I am not alone in this as many people think she was drunk!  I have the perfect music video for this.  I wonder if people were buying her a drink?

I also saw some of the coverage from Fox News and they kept denying that Ohio went to Obama.  This forced Megyn Kelly to walk to the Fox News Decison Desk and it was confirmed!  Karl Rove got it wrong!

I hope Obama can bring the two parties together and get this country moving forward again!  But if you are not happy with the results and want to leave this country click on the link below.  Wade Kwon has provided a great post-election moving kit!

Here Comes Paul Ryan

So everyone got the news last night that Republican Presidential Nominee Mitt Romney has chosen Wisconsin U.S. Senator Paul Ryan as his V.P. pick.  No doubt this pick will be popular with the Tea Party and the right-wing folks who think Paul Ryan’s budget plan called The Path to Prosperity is the best plan for America.  This plan would turn Medicare into a voucher program, repeal Obamacare, cut billions in spending, eliminate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, cut the federal workforce, and cut down on the food stamp program.  The plan would also cut taxes for the richest Americans while some of the poorest Americans might even have to pay more taxes.  What the… I’m not even going to say any bad words here.  Here are the three videos from Paul Ryan explaining his budget plans.

Part of Paul Ryan’s plan would turn over Medicaid to the states.  And this part of the plan has me really concerned.  Alabama already has the lowest Medicaid payouts in the country and if the upcoming September 18th vote fails Alabama could simply decide to end providing health care to its poorest citizens.  This would cause lots of nursing homes, hospitals, and doctors to close up shop.  (http://geekalabama.com/2012/07/26/the-upcoming-september-18th-vote/)

Another part of this plan would increase spending to the military.  I don’t know why Republicans like to cut spending to other programs but wants to increase spending to our military that really does not need it.  Our military are already in places in the world we really should not be in like Iraq and Afghanistan.  But the part of Ryan’s budget plan I really do not like is the plan to cut taxes to the richest Americans while some of the poorer Americans will have a tax increase.  This video explains it perfectly.

I am sure many people in Alabama who are against Obama are very happy seeing Mitt Romney picking Paul Ryan as his V.P. pick.  But if they win in November I am concerned they will use Paul Ryan’s Path to Prosperity budget plan which will hurt the poorest Americans like me the most.  And it would give the richest Americans another way to stick it to the little guys.  At least the London Olympics can keep me company today while I think about this pick.

America Under Obama

America has changed quite a bit since Obama took office.  I know it is too early to start talking about the election season.  But with the Republican nomination race already getting nasty.  You know whomever is the Republican nominee will have a tough battle against Obama.  Obama has a lot of money and has a lot of support.  I found this graph that shows off what has happened in America between Obama’s inauguration and the end of 2011.  Unemployment is way up; the national debt is way up; gas prices have almost doubled; the number of people on food stamps have risen dramatically; and the cost of healthcare has gone up; even with Obamacare.  And the number of people who are in poverty has gone up in huge numbers and the misery index is higher than ever before.  So you would think we would put someone new in the White House.  But it might take that and  many new members of Congress to change things for the better.  Let’s just hope the people in America are smart enough to elect new people to send to Washington.  Because I would love to be working again.

The Iowa Caucus and CNN After Dark

Iowa Caucus

Well let me just say that I am not surprised at all in the results of the 2012 Iowa Caucus.  Over 120,000 votes were casted and the winner by just 8 votes is Mitt Romney.  But for most of the night the dark horse Rick Santorum was leading the pack and there was even a chance for Ron Paul to win the caucus.  Two of the candidates Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry are pretty much now out of the race and might as well go ahead and prepare their concession speeches.  And for Newt Gingrich he is now in attack mode against Romney.  He already has an attack ad going out the next morning in New Hampshire.  But you might as well go ahead and write Gingrich out of the race for president.  Ron Paul is very popular with the young crowd but he will go nowhere fast.  So it is down to two guys for the Republican nominee for president.  And at the end of the day I believe Romney will be that nominee.  And that will be a great battle for the White House.  And the caucus was won by only 8 votes!  That just tells everyone the importance to get out and vote.  Exercise your American right and go vote!

CNN After Dark

Give credit to CNN; they tracked down the officials in the one county where the Iowa results were missing.  And they predicted the winner before it became official.  But during the phone call to the officalls in Clinton County Iowa; we all got a good laugh.  Edith Pfeffer Clinton County GOP Chairwoman; and Carolyn Tallet, president of the Clinton County Republican Women.  Got a late night call from CNN.  My favorite quote “What do you mean the numbers don’t match?” made everyone’s night in the insane hour of 1AM central.  The best part was watching the anchors just stand there motionless and almost speechless.  But all of America got a great laugh out of it.

CNN called the two ladies back later in the night and all of the anchors had a good laugh.  My question is what was that anchor doing on the TV in the background?  Well because of that great moment in TV the topics #CNNafterdark and #Edith and #Carolyn are trending worldwide on Twitter.  And I think we will see more of Edith and Carolyn very soon.  This could be one of the best moments in CNN history.  How long do you think it will be before this becomes a SNL skit?  And CNN please start the show CNN After Dark.  I think many people would watch and it would give you better ratings.  Which CNN really needs right now.  I really love the new logo!

TV that Republicans and Democrats Like To Watch.

I kind of laughed when I saw this post on ew.com.  It showed which shows people leaning Democrat would watch and which shows people leaning Republicans would watch.  Basically Republicans love shows about people working like Deadliest Catch and they also love crime drama shows like CSI.  Democrats like comedies like Modern Family and the fake news shows like The Daily Show.  Here is the link!

http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/12/06/republican-vs-democrat-tv/

So here is a good list of the shows that Republicans like!

  • Swamp Loggers
  • Top Shot
  • The Bachelor
  • MythBusters
  • American Pickers
  • Pawn Stars
  • The Biggest Loser
  • Top Gear
  • Wheel of Fortune
  • Hawaii Five O
  • NCIS
  • Dancing With The Stars

And the shows Republicans hate!

  • Weeds
  • The Daily Show
  • South Park
  • TMZ
  • Family Guy
  • Jersey Shore
  • Dexter
  • General Hospital
  • The Walking Dead

I can not believe that shows like The Walking Dead and Family Guy are shows that Republicans hate!  I guess some Republicans do not have a sense of humor.   Here is the list of shows Democrats love!

  • The Daily Show
  • 30 Rock
  • The View
  • Glee
  • Modern Family
  • Treme
  • The Soup
  • SNL
  • Project Runway

And the shows Democrats hate!

  • Deadliest Catch
  • Dirty Jobs
  • Storm Chasers
  • Swamp Loggers
  • COPS
  • The Price Is Right
  • Ghost Hunters
  • Secret Life of the American Teenager
  • Operation Repo

I think we all get a theme going do we.  Democrats hate shows in which shows people actually working for a living.  And Republicans hate shows that show nothing but junk.  It does make you wonder if this is part of the reason why the country is going down the tube.  And people are so split on issues and not willing to compromise.  So what would happen if TV just went away?  Would people get along better and be willing to work together on issues.  Um….. NO!  But one can always dream now can they!  So to wrap this all up; which shows are my favorite; well here is my list!

  • Phineas and Ferb
  • The Walking Dead
  • The Price Is Right
  • Family Guy
  • The Simpsons
  • Survivor
  • The Amazing Race
  • Fear Factor
  • Two and a Half Men
  • 2 Broke Girls
  • The Big Bang Theory
  • MythBusters
  • Rocket City Rednecks
  • Saturday Night Live
  • Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives
  • Cake Boss

And of course I like watching news coverage and sports coverage as well.  So which weird news story will come out next?  One can only tell.
