Pigskin Roundup Spring Jam Extra Scenes 2012

I wanted to show off some extra scenes from the Pigskin Roundup Spring Jam at Burgess-Snow Field.  Scroll to the bottom of the post for the photos of all four games.  On day one we had some military helicopters fly around the stadium and even land nearby!  It was a cool sight!

And on day two I took some great photos of the sunset.  A storm delayed the games for a little bit and the clouds provided a great scene!

Plus who could not resist some other great photos of the event!

Pigskin Roundup Spring Jam: Game Four 2012

The final game of the Pigskin Roundup Spring Jam featured two strong teams who showed their strengths throughout the game.  Walter Wellborn and Alexandria both had strong years last Fall and after watching them both play.  I am sure that both teams will have strong seasons this Fall.  The final score was 28-28 and ended at a tie.  Enjoy the photos below and Pigskin Roundup will start its ninth season August 31st at 10:30pm on TV 24.

Pigskin Roundup Spring Jam: Game Three 2012

On the second day of the Pigskin Roundup Spring Jam the first game featured an Donoho team who had a very strong year last Fall going deep into the playoffs and losing to the eventual 1A champs Marion County.  The other team White Plains came off a tough season last Fall and is rebuilding for the next season.  White Plains won the game 28-21.  But both teams showed talent on the field which will translate to great success this Fall.  Enjoy the photos!

Pigskin Roundup Spring Jam: Game Two 2012

The second game in the Pigskin Roundup Spring Jam featured Saks which came off a very strong year last Fall.  The opponent was Pleasant Valley which had an average season last Fall.  Right off the bat Saks scored and then kept scoring and stayed strong throughout the game.  The final score was 34-0 with Saks winning.  Saks is going to have a strong year next Fall while Pleasant Valley has got some building to do.  Enjoy the pictures below!

Pigskin Roundup Spring Jam: Game One 2012

Over the next few days on Geek Alabama I am going to feature pictures from the four games being showcased on the Pigskin Roundup Spring Jam at Burgess-Snow Field on the campus of Jacksonville State.  The first game was Ohatchee vs. Weaver.  Ohatchee has a brand new head football coach while Weaver is coming off an successful season last year.  The final score was 60-7 with Weaver winning.  I think Weaver is going to have a strong year this Fall!  Enjoy the photos!

Weaver vs. Ohatchee- 4pm
Pleasant Valley vs. Saks- 7pm

Friday- May 18th

Of course football is not the only thing happening this weekend.  If you are a fan of yard sales you will enjoy this.  The US 11 Antique Alley is from May 17th to May 20th.  This 502 mile yard sale from Meridian, MS to Bristol, VA will feature numerous people trying to sell stuff at roadside yard sales.  And many towns along the route will also feature events for the entire family to do.  Plan on seeing lots of traffic on US 11 and nearby Interstate 59 throughout the weekend.  For more information go to http://www.us11antiquealley.com/

But there’s even more happening this weekend!  On the festival side the Rome River Jam features many bands on May 19th. http://romeriverjam.com/  The Poke Salat Festival happens on May 19th in Arab, AL and features many things for the family to do.  http://www.pokesalatfestival.com/ The Glencoe, AL Celebration in the Park happens on May 19th. http://www.gadsdentimes.com/article/20120515/news/120519911?cid=dlvr.it&tc=ar And the Clay County Music and Arts festival in Ashland, AL occurs on May 19th. http://claycochamber.com/  The Finishing With Faith Family Fun Day 5K also happens in Clay County on May 19th.  https://www.facebook.com/events/309713512431832/

On a serious note; a fundraising concert for Aimee Copeland who is recovering from a bacterial infection will be held at 8pm on May 18th in the Moonshadow Music Hall at Sunnyside Cafe in Carrollton, GA.  The band will be Americana Express, a popular group who performs mostly original songs from the Duke Baggett Band CD, “Georgia Tracks.”  More concerts are planned for Aimee Copeland.  And this will raise a lot of money and will be packed.  Get there early!  For more information go to http://www.sunnyside-cafe.com/.
