This week on Animation Monday, on a Tuesday, I am talking about four short films that you should check out. And for those of you in the northeast stuck in that blizzard, why not get comfy and enjoy these videos?
Flow
From the Vimeo channel Mathijs Demaeght, comes an animated short film using 2D and 3D techniques to create a unique visual experience. Flow is about a mourning girl making an unexpected friend when a white wolf takes her through a mysterious portal on a journey to confront her grief. A journey about loneliness, grief, friendship and love all in one big flow. The animation is awesome in this video, and I love the interactions between the girl and the wolf at the end, worth watching!
Dji. Death Sails
From the Vimeo channel simpals, comes a story about what happens when a pirate stranded in the ocean meets death. Dji is death, and he does a terrible job taking the soul of the pirate who survived the blow up of his pirate ship, and is stuck in the middle of the ocean. So, does Dji get the job done?
Forgot
The Vimeo channel Stephen McNally brings us a video about memory, emigration, longing, Jesus kitsch, cocktail sausages, and children’s television. Forgot explores the shape of memory, telling the story of a life through its effacing. A non-linear narrative that flashes between childhood and maturity, as it all slips away. From what we long to remember, to what we’d sooner forget. Good animation!
Followers
The Vimeo channel Gints Zilbalodis brings us a story about a escaped prisoner meeting a boy who runs away from school. Man, seeing the boy try to stop the police officer from capturing the prisoner near the end was extreme!
