TV Review: Blossom On The Hub Network

Remember Blossom?  Not that Blossom from The Powerpuff Girls, that Blossom that aired on NBC from 1990-1995?  Blossom was created by Don Reo, and starred Mayim Bialik as Blossom Russo, a teenager living with her father and two brothers.  If you were too young to remember this classic series?  Or just want to see it again, you are in luck, because the Hub Network is now airing Blossom!  And your four main characters including Mayim Bialik, Joey Lawrence, Jenna von Oy, and Michael Stoyanov, have gone from this classic photo.

To this current photo recently taken to celebrate the show coming to the Hub Network!

So let’s be honest, when Blossom was on the air on NBC, I was still in Kindergarten!  So I never knew about this show since I was enjoying kid’s cartoons instead!  I watched the first few episodes and I thought the show was good!  Blossom is clearly growing up in a teenager world.  Blossom is something that Hub Network is banking on to bring in programming to provide kids and their families with entertainment they can watch together.  Yes, Blossom can include some grown up things like a woman getting her period, but this is something all girls are going to go through, and for the little kids, this is a great discussion their parents can have a chat with!

The show also deals with the loss of their mother, who moves away, from the very first episode.  Since more and more families have to go through a divorce, this can be a great discussion for younger kids.  Future episodes will also include guest stars who Blossom frequently received advice in fantasy scenes, such as Mr. T, Hugh Hefner, Phylicia Rashad, David Spade, ALF, and Will Smith.  So if you want to see some of your favorite stars when they were younger, watch Blossom!

With the pick up of Blossom, I hope Hub Network will acquire and develop more shows for older people in primetime that has a family feel.  Hub Network has been in the news because their president is leaving, and I have read the stories saying Hub Network will soon go away or move.  I don’t believe you will see Hub Network disappearing anytime soon!  But if they want to stick around, I hope I can preview and review future shows that can fit in with the network, and Blossom and Kid President Declaration of Awesome are two great shows to bring more families watching the Hub Network!
