The last few days in the animation/cartoon world have featured some big stores! So on this Animation Monday, let’s talk about some cartoons with some recent big news!
The Powerpuff Girls Are Back
Remember how popular The Powerpuff Girls were? The popularity was almost like the amount of fans you see on My Little Pony today. Guess what, the girls are back! Cartoon Network announced they are bringing back the three superhero girls and chief content officer of the Cartoon Network, Rob Sorcher, said: “The original Powerpuff Girls was a franchise phenomenon for Cartoon Network, paving the way for a new generation of innovative storytellers and enthusiastic fans worldwide. We are calling these girls back into action based upon an overwhelming demand for sugar, spice and Chemical X.”
Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup — will return to the network in 2016. The original series won two Emmy awards, and The Powerpuff Girls brand has achieved over $2.5 billion in retail sales. No word on who will write and produce the series, but here is hoping the original creators will come back!
Gravity Falls Season Two Premiere
The wait is almost over! Season two of Gravity Falls is coming to Disney Channel and DisneyXD! Creator Alex Hirsch has confirmed a premiere date of Friday August 1st at 8 pm Central. And he did this via Twitter.

And another episode of Gravity Falls will air on DisneyXD on Monday August 4th! Get excited, this is one of the top cartoons currently on TV!

Phineas And Ferb: Star Wars
Yep, Phineas And Ferb are going to a galaxy far, far away! Disney has released photos and the special is looking good! The special will have all of your regular characters from the popular cartoon. The special will guest star Simon Pegg, and MythBusters Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman! Here is the official synopsis.
In Phineas and Ferb: Star Wars, Phineas and Ferb are living just one moisture farm over from Luke Skywalker on the planet of Tatooine when R2-D2 and the Death Star plans inadvertently fall into their speeder. With the fate of the galaxy thrust upon their shoulders, they hire pilot Isabella, Han Solo’s rival, to help them return the plans to the Rebel Alliance. Complicating matters, low-ranking Stormtrooper Candace is intent on busting the Rebels and chases them across the galaxy in hopes of retrieving the Death Star plans.
Meanwhile, intergalactic chaos erupts on the Death Star when Perry the Rebelpus is trapped in carbonite while trying to stop Darthenshmirtz from using his new “Sith-inator.” The saga takes a turn for the worse when Ferb is accidentally caught in the crossfire of the “Sith-inator,” changing him into a full-fledged Sith and leading to an epic first-time battle between the brothers.
The special will premiere on Saturday July 26th at 8 pm Central! Look for more photos and video clips at Comic-Con!
The Legend Of Korra Season 3 Trailer
Nickelodeon released the season three trailer of the popular cartoon The Legend of Korra! Sadly, some episodes of Book 3 have been leaked, but I am going to wait until Book 3 officially premieres this Fall. Enjoy the trailer, it looks cool!
