Animation Monday: 2013 Year In Review – Geek Alabama’s Top Animation

2013 has been a great year in the animation fields. The animators on many shows have stepped up their games this year! And the animation on cartoons is fantastic! So here is my list of the top 10 cartoons of 2013!

The Legend of Korra

I really enjoyed book 2 of The Legend of Korra! The animation and storytelling were top-notch. I can’t wait for book 3 or the second season to premiere on Nick. But please don’t make the fans wait for over a year! And please get this show off of Friday nights as well.

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

Yep, a top animation list could not be made without talking about My Little Pony! This show has stepped up the animation quality in season 4. If you are an animation / cartoon fan, you must check this show out! The storytelling and writing are great as well. It’s not about the ponies, it’s about the writing!

Gravity Falls

Gravity Falls is a great show on Disney Channel. This type of cartoon is something Disney needs to do more of. Too bad they messed up the schedule of this show since it’s going to be a while until the second season. I also think Wander Over Yonder is getting better with time too.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

In its second season, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is starting to get a big fanbase on Nickelodeon. I am still getting used to this show, mostly because I find the computer animation as weird. I do admit the animation is better in the second season!

Adventure Time

Adventure Time still has massive fans this far into the show which is good. The interesting storylines and animation makes this a show everyone should watch! Regular Show is another show that is great as well!

Uncle Grandpa

This new show on Cartoon Network is gaining lots of new fans! I like how this show deals with some over the top story lines. I also don’t want to forget the other new show Steven Universe because it’s good too!

Bob’s Burgers

Bob’s Burgers is quickly becoming one of the top adult cartoons on TV. It’s because the writing, animation, and voices are great! There is plenty of good story lines and laughs in each episode, you should watch this show!

Phineas and Ferb

2013 has been a good year for Phineas and Ferb. My favorite has to be that Marvel crossover! That was a really good special! 2014 will bring us the Star Wars crossover, I can’t wait to see that!

Littlest Pet Shop

Many of the writers and animators from My Little Pony also work on this show, and that is why it’s on this list! The writing and animation are great, and the ratings are good for the Hub Network!

Futurama

Farewell to a great series! It’s sad to see such a great series ending like this. But Comedy Central finally cancelled Futurama and the fans might not get their wish on bringing it back. Futurama had a great run, and maybe we will see the show come back on Hulu or Netflix. I hope the show will come back!
