Animation Monday: TV.com Top Adult And Child Animated Series Voting

Geek Alabama Animation

On this Animation Monday, I am going to talk about a poll from TV.com where they want people to vote for the Best Of 2013 for TV.  There are many categories like best overall series, best drama, best comedy, best guilty pleasure, and more!  But this post is going to concentrate on the best Adult Animated Series and Best Child Animated Series.  Because many geeks and nerds love watching cartoons!

Let’s start off with the Adult Animated Series category.  The choices this year are The Venture Brothers, Axe Cop, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, Archer, Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Futurama.  Newcomers like Axe Cop and Bob’s Burgers are good shows on FOX but won’t win.  The Simpsons has been on the air for too long.  And shows like Robot Chicken and The Venture Brothers are good shows on Adult Swim but won’t get enough votes.  The top two vote getters as of December 9th are South Park and Futurama.

I hope Futurama wins this vote!  Many geeks and nerds love watching this show and I am not happy Comedy Central ended it.  FOX treated this show so poorly when it was on their network.  I hope we will see Futurama live on as an online series.  Netflix and Hulu, are you listening?  I am also not surprised to see South Park up in the votes.  This show is a cartoon staple!  To vote for your favorite Adult Animated Series go to: http://www.tv.com/features/best-of-2013/vote/poll/SpecialFeatures:list:best-adult-animated-series

Now let’s talk about the best Child Animated Series.  The choices this year are Young Justice, Gravity Falls, Regular Show, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Phineas and Ferb, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Legend of Korra, and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.  This is a tough category for me because all of these cartoons can win and I enjoy watching them!  Adventure Time and Regular Show are staples on Cartoon Network.  Steven Universe is rapidly growing a fanbase on Cartoon Network.  Phineas and Ferb and Gravity Falls are staples on Disney Channel.  Young Justice and Star Wars: The Clone Wars still has lots of fans even though the shows have ended.  And The Legend of Korra is very popular on Nickelodeon.  But one show is blowing the others out of the water in the vote, and it involves ponies!

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic on The Hub Network has over six million votes as of December 9th.  I guess I should not be surprised.  The show has a huge fanbase!  Sites like Equestria Daily gets huge amounts of web traffic.  And the show trends on social media when each new episode is shown on The Hub Network.  And yes, I like watching the show too!  I guess it helps Geek Alabama when I talk about Hub Network shows, and the folks from the network loves it when I talk about their shows.  Congrats to The Hub Network for being voted the best family network for the second year in the row, by the way!

To vote for your top Child Animated Series, go to: http://www.tv.com/features/best-of-2013/vote/poll/SpecialFeatures:list:best-animated-series-2013  You have until the end of the year to vote, so go vote!
