The Coldwater Mountain Bike Trails have been a huge success in the Anniston area. And now the Northeast Alabama Bicycle Association is in a very important contest to win a $30,000 grant from Bell Helmets.
Coldwater Mountain is one of four finalists nationwide in the “Flow Trail” category for a Bell Built grant. If they win, approximately $30,000 would be used to construct a trail that would connect the developing Coldwater Mountain trail system to struggling downtown Anniston, Alabama. The local community is behind this project and is hanging its hat, or in this case its Bell helmet, on the Coldwater Trails to be the catalyst to revitalize historic downtown Anniston.
Winning this grant along with the money from the City of Anniston would be huge! This money would be used to construct the Monsanto Trailhead just west of downtown Anniston. Cyclists could come off the Coldwater Mountain Bike Trails and ride right in to downtown to eat and shop. Several people from the community danced in a Harlem Shake video to convince voters to vote for Coldwater Mountain!
So how can you vote for Coldwater Mountain and Anniston? You need to go to the Bell Bike Helmets Facebook page and click on the Bell Built Grant tab up top. Then click on Flow Trail Projects and vote for Coldwater Mountain!
You have until April 12th to vote! To vote go to: https://www.facebook.com/BellBikeHelmets
