Picture1riroepe Geek Alabama New Year

In the first of several posts to come.  Geek Alabama will come out with the top things that happened in the year 2012.  First up, the top music in 2012!  2012 was filled with great music such as “Gangnam Style” which featured the horse dance.  And “Call Me Maybe” which was parodied by many people on YouTube.  Here is Geek Alabama’s top 12 songs of 2012.

Gangnam Style – PSY

This song has over one billion views on YouTube.  Plus I have seen it parodied by many people.  The horse dance makes it one top song for 2012.

Call Me Maybe – Carly Rae Jepsen

This song has such a catchy tune.  This song was also parodied by many people in 2012. I thought this song was very popular in 2012.

Somebody That I Used to Know – Gotye

I thought this was a very good song!  I really loved the interesting sounds in this song.  And in the video, you see a lot of body painting!

Ho Hey – The Lumineers

This song was put out in early 2012. But it has recently exploded.  What I like about this group is they are trying to bring back an resurgence of folk music!

Stronger – Kelly Clarkson

I thought this was one of Kelly Clarkson’s top songs in her career.  This is also an uplifting song to hear!

We Are Young – Fun

This was an interesting song.  For sure there is a lot of yelling in this song.  But a lot of people loved this song in 2012.

Payphone – Maroon 5

At first, I did not like Maroon 5.  But lately this group has come out with some great music.  Payphone was a great song!

Locked Out of Heaven – Bruno Mars

I thought this song belonged in the top 2012 list.  This song from Bruno Mars has an old school feel and I liked it!

Glad You Came – The Wanted

I liked hearing this song.  The guys in the music video looked like they had a great time at a vacation spot.

What Makes You Beautiful – One Direction

I would have been taken to the cleaners if I did not include this song.  Many people liked it in 2012.

Diamonds / Where Have You Been – Rihanna

Rihanna always comes out with great songs and great music videos.  I guess I call it a tie for 11th best song in my top 2012 list!
