Today’s Olympic moments starts with a new world record. Carmelita Jeter, Tianna Madison, Allyson Felix, and Bianca Knight set a new world record and won gold in the women’s 4×100 relay. Congrats to them!
Also today Jordan Burroughs won gold in the men’s wrestling 74kg freestyle. Not bad for a guy whose Twitter handle is @alliseeisgold Congrats!
Tonight a former Alabama citizen has won silver in what is one of the hardest Olympic events in the games. Trey Hardee won silver in the men’s Decathlon. The decathlon consists of the following events: 100m Run, Long Jump, Shot Put, High Jump, 400m Run, 110m Hurdles, Discus Throw, Pole Vault, Javelin Throw, and the 1500m Run. You get points in each event in the decathlon depending on how you finish. Trey Hardee and his American teammate Ashton Eaton who won gold pretty much dominated this competition. Ashton Eaton finished with 8869 points while Trey Hardee finished with 8671 points.
Congrats to Trey Hardee from Austin, TX but was born in Birmingham, AL for winning the gold!
