Here on Geek Alabama I love to cover events that helps raise awareness and funds for organizations that help people with disabilities. Since I have Asperger’s Syndrome it makes me feel good that a lot of money was raised at the telethon! Over the weekend the UCP Telethon was held at the Anniston City Meeting Center. Many people turned out to help in a great cause. The entire telethon was broadcasted all over NE Alabama on TV 24 and Cable One channel 2.
The last time I checked over $250,000 was raised throughout the weekend. And the volunteers who manned the road blocks, took the phone calls, provided entertainment, served food and drinks, and to make sure things ran smoothly have to be commended! Special guests including several area high school coaches and Miss Alabama Anna Laura Bryan made an appearance! Enjoy looking at the photos from the 2-day event below.
