Animation Talk Stuff

Animation Monday: Softball, Korra, Perry

This Animation Monday is being split up into three parts.  But that means you get to read about three different things in this post!

Alabama Softball

Update:  Alabama Softball won the national championship!

Okay I admit it; I am an Auburn fan (War Eagle!)  But many people are talking about the latest Alabama athletic team that has a chance to win a championship.  The University of Alabama has had a great year in its athletic department.  The football, gymnastics, and women’s golf teams have won national championships.  And the men’s golf team almost won a national championship by one hole!  So you have to say that Alabama has had one great year!

Now Alabama has one last chance to win a championship this season.  The softball team starts play tonight in the Women’s College World Series Championship; the first time ever!  Alabama defeated California on Sunday to earn its way to the championship game.  And so far the team has not lost a game in the world series.  Coach Patrick Murphy admits this team has a great shot to win a championship.  And the team will play Oklahoma in the championship series at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.  The first game out of three (two to win championship) starts at 8/7c on ESPN2.

The Legend of Korra

The first season of The Legend of Korra is already over halfway through!  But the story-lines and the animation quality in the show has been outstanding!  With the sport of air-bending now banned and the stadium closed because of the equalists.  Korra along with her friends Mako, Bolin and Asami go to live on Air Temple Island.  But they will not be living on the island for long.  The group forms the vigilante squad called Team Avatar and goes looking for trouble; but the group does not stay together for long.

Tarrlok’s new rules does not go well with the group and the citizens of Republic City.  And Mako, Bolin and Asami are arrested and taken into custody.  Korra tries to start a fight but her friends talk her out of it.  Later Korra has a confrontation with Tarrlok and Korra loses.  She is tied up and put into the back of a vehicle.  And she is told by Tarrlok that she will be taken far away and will never see Republic City again.  We will have to wait and see what will happen next week.  But so far I have enjoyed this series on Nickelodeon.  And the quality of animation in this show has been great!

New DVD from Phineas and Ferb

First; there is an awesome interview from Toonzone with the creators of Phineas and Ferb Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh.  http://www.toonzone.net/news/articles/43196/toonzone-interviews-phineas-amp-ferb-co-creators-dan-povenmire-and-jeff-swampy-marsh/

And another great interview from MTV Geek.

With the third season about to come to a close; and a movie currently in production.  Phineas and Ferb still amazes many people even today.  And now there is a new DVD coming out on Tuesday June 5th called The Perry Files.

The 2-disc DVD will feature several episodes from the popular TV series and bonus features for all the platypus fans out there!  There will be a video that will show off the platybus.  The bus that toured the country last Summer for the Phineas and Ferb 2D movie.  And the DVD will have a feature to test our O.W.C.A. skills.  The Nerves of Teal will see if you have what it takes to be a secret agent.  Plus you will get a lot of freebies in the photo above!

So what should we expect in the near term on Phineas and Ferb.  Well everyone should know about the cliffhanger that will be shown in July where Perry will just disappear!  And in August we will see what happened to Perry the Platypus.  And the movie that should come out in 2013.  Plus the spin-off that was announced.  And if the latest episodes shown are any indication.  We have not seen the last of this creative show and it will be around for a long time!

By the way if you want some behind the scenes action follow the Twitter accounts of Jeff “Swampy” Marsh @mmonogram and Dan Povenmire @DanPovenmire.  By the way I am glad to see Mr. Povenmire Tweeting again!
